Electron and the Bear

A book that has long been a favorite of mine is
Gödel, Escher, Bach: An Eternal Golden Braid by Douglas Hofstadter.
I read this book when I was beginning my professional education, and it profoundly
influenced my career direction. I have returned to it many times of the years,
given away innumerable copies, and basically treated it as my lodestone for the
muses I follow.
One of the mechanisms Hofstader uses in GEB are a series of conversations between
Achilles and the Tortise. As a nod to both my favorite professional book that
has real staying power, and because I believe the technique works, my blog contains
postings that represent dialogs between the Bear and Electron. In these postings,
it should be evident that I take on the role of the bear, whereas Electron takes
on whatever role I have decided to shove him into.
